Good news for teachers across Punjab. Punjab government is going to provide Free Scooters to Female Teachers. Teachers have to travel many kilometers daily on public transport. It is difficult for teachers to afford public transport with limited salaries.

Procedure to Register for Free Scooters to Female Teachers
- The project is being launched from August 2022.
- Applications from willing female employees will be accepted in August
- The data of teachers will be taken from the school information system and will be given to the teachers on merit.
- The teachers will be given Scotties in the first phase.
- If successful, the project will be rolled out to other districts
These scooters will be given only to permanent female employees during the new fiscal year 2022-23. This year, 160,000 scooters will be provided to female employees at a monthly installment of Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 3,000 depending on their employment status. The first phase of distribution of these scooters will be completed between August and November this year.
Applications from aspiring female employees will be accepted in August, after which scrutiny will begin.
Adviser to the Chief Minister Malik Abrar Ahmed said that the Punjab government has allocated funds in the provincial budget for this project.
“No country can develop without the active participation of women,” she said. “Women face severe problems when they go to work from home. They face problems with buses and wagons. Pick-and-drop service has also become expensive. That is why the PML-N government has given women employees across Punjab. It has been decided to provide scooters. If the number of women increases, more scooters will be provided.
The project will benefit working women and they will be able to come to the office safely and easily from home.
The finance minister also announced a big relief package for the employees in the recent Budget 2022. Teachers’ salaries were increased by 15%. And merging all previous ad hoc allowances, a new Basic Pay 2022 was introduced.
Earlier, the government was also thinking of providing tablet phones to teachers in schools. The Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif has also decided to provide laptops to students in easy installment
The Punjab government has decided to provide scooters (motorcycles) to female teachers, lady polio workers, women health workers and working women of all government and semi-government institutions across the province.
